In early June, I spent a weekend photographing a beautiful sister gathering. Curated for women, this retreat hosted by Obsidian retreats, was intended to be a safe space to reconnect with your divine self while also connecting with each other through movement, nature, communication, and relaxation.
Jaclyn Erer, co-host of Obsidian Retreats and lead facilitator of The Divine Feminine, first reached out in search for a photographer to document the events of the weekend in a way that felt natural and honest. She wanted photographs that captured the connection between the women, the laughter, the tears, and the overall atmosphere of the gathering. Her intention was to use these photos for promotional purposes for future retreats, on her website and social media. She was looking for someone who embodied the retreat’s energy, to capture moments while respecting the need for personal space – when appropriate.
Throughout the weekend, I immersed myself in the retreat’s activities, blending with the participants. Intuitively tapping into the energy of the space, this approach allowed me to capture the moments as they unfolded naturally.
“Oh my gosh Savannah, I’m literally bawling. These are so beautiful. Thank you so much. I’m so grateful. I can’t even explain to you what these mean to me, I’m in awe of your work and your ability to capture everything that I wanted. Thank you.” – Jaclyn Erer, Co-host of Obsidian Retreats and Lead Facilitator of Divine Feminine Retreat
At this time, I’ve decided to share only a few photos from this retreat as a way to honour the attendees and respect their personal experiences – this weekend was truly nourishing.
